This page is dedicated to Irvine Swim League coaches and swim and water polo coaches looking to complete the necessary requirements for USA Swimming, USA Water Polo, and Irvine Swim League.

Please read this page, including the frequently asked questions to get all of the information you need to complete your certifications on time.

**This course is a combination of online, classroom, and in water skills work. Please allow adequate time complete your online training for Safety Training for Swim Coaches, otherwise you will not be allowed to complete your in water skills session, and you will forfeit your fees for that section.**

As an Irvine Swim League Coach, you will need to have the following certifications.

1. American Red Cross CPR/AED (Taught at 36 Argonaut Suite 130 Aliso Viejo, CA 92656
2. Safety Training for Swim Coaches (includes First Aid)- (Taught right across from Premiers CPR classroom at The Aliso Viejo Aquatics Center 29 Santa Barbara Aliso Viejo, CA 92656)
For first time coaches or those wishing to renew all of their certifications, you may register for the ISL Combo Course. This will cover both CPR/AED and Safety Training for Swim Coaches in one day.
**After the completion of the CPR/AED course at 36 Argonaut, staff will escort students to the Aliso Viejo Aquatics Center for the completion of the in water skills**

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will the Combo Combo Course meet all my prerequisite to coach in ISL?

The combo course will meet your health and safety requirements only. Coaches will still need to complete all necessary ISL trainings through the Irvine Swim League (sexual harassment training, background checks, etc.).

What if I have a current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification but I do not have a Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification?

What if I have a current Safety Training for Swim Coaches but I do not have a current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification?

If you already have a current Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification but you do not have a current CPR/AED certification, you can click below to register for the American Red Cross CPR/AED certification.

What if I am Lifeguard Certified?

Coaches that are lifeguard certified will still need to take the online content only of the Safety Training for Swim Coaches. Once completed, they will be responsible for getting their certification to ISL.

Do I have to complete both sections (CPR/AED and Safety Training for Swim Coaches) in one day?

You do not have to complete both sections in one day, however to take advantage of the Combo course discount, you must complete it in one day. If you choose to take the course in two installments (CPR/AED on one day, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches on another day), you will have to sign up for each course separately.

How do I receive my certifications?

After completing your course, Premier will email students and ISL a copy of their CPR certification ONLY. Participants are emailed their Safety Training for Swim Coaches certifications directly from the American Red Cross and Premier DOES NOT have access to them. It is the coaches responsibility to get their Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification to the ISL.

What if my certification will expire in the middle of the summer?

In order to coach in the Irvine Swim League, it is required that you have a current American Red Cross CPR/AED and Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification that is good through September of 2017. If your certification expires prior to the October 1st, you must renew the certification to coach.

What if I don't complete my online portion of Safety Training for Swim Coaches?

If you do not complete your online blended learning course through the Red Cross prior to your in water skills session, you will be turned away from the skills session and will forfeit your registration fee. Please remember that the online portion of Safety Training for Swim Coaches takes roughly 2-3 hours, so please plan accordingly.

Weekend Combo Courses generally run from 9:45am – 2:30pm.

$19.00 DIRECT TO AMERICAN RED CROSS FOR ONLINE COURSE

Step 1: Pick a date from the calendar below to register and pay for your COMBO COURSE date (BLUE BUTTON)

Step 2: Register and pay to take the online course through American Red Cross by clicking the RED BUTTON below. Must be completed before your COMBO COURSE date.

Step 3: Print out and bring your online completion report for your Safety Training for Swim Coaches Online Course. (You will not be permited to take the In-Water portion without proof of completion)

Step 4: Show up at 36 Argonaut, suite 130 at 9:45am.

COURSE TRANSFER/CANCELLATION FEE

There is a $25 cancellation/transfer fee for all Health and Safety Classes. For courses cancelled less than 48 hours before the course offering, there will be no refunds.
