Premier Aquatics has been deep in work getting ready for opening day in Paramount. With the recent acquisition of the aquatic contract in Paramount, Premier Aquatics is ready to deliver exceptional services while fostering a sense of community, spirit, and engagement.

As summer approaches, the anticipation for the opening of the Paramount Pool is growing. On Saturday, April 6th the aquatic center opened and residents from all over the city of Paramount attended, eager to swim, learn about Swim Programs, and meet the team! You’ll notice that renovations have been made to the facility, creating a fun and educational space for families and individuals to enjoy. Whether you are looking for a casual day at the pool or want to enroll your children in our Swim Programs, our staff is ready, excited, and most importantly trained to the expectations we hold them to.

The support from the city of Paramount has been instrumental in ensuring that the pool is ready to welcome visitors for a season of fun and relaxation.

In an exclusive interview, the Aquatics Director, Esteban, shares his vision for the pool and the role Premier Aquatics will play in bringing it to life. When asked, “what is the role of Premier in Paramount and what is your role?”  He said, “the role of Premier Aquatics is to make the pool feel welcoming, fun, and safe. We want to give the community memories not only of Premier Aquatics but of Paramount as well. My role as the Aquatics Director is to make sure we are on the path to make the community come together and ensure the pool feels like home.”

Premier’s Swim Instructor Development Program

Swim Lessons at Premier Aquatic ServicesAt Premier Aquatic Services, we take safety seriously. That’s why we developed a unique swim instructor training program designed to take our swim instructors’ skills to the next level. Our swim instructor development program has five levels of training, and each stage takes place with a master instructor.

Level 1 of Swim Instructor Development

In Level 1 training, prospective instructors spend 30 hours working on their basic skills. Our program leverages coursework, homework, videos, tests, and hands-on lessons in the pool to give each prospective instructor a well-rounded education. This program is designed to prepare instructors for teaching Level 1 (Jellyfish) through Level 4 (Guppy) Group LTS classes.

Upon graduation from Level 1, new instructors co-teach classes until the senior instructors feel the junior instructor has developed his or her skills and can be promoted to teaching on his or her own.

Premier’s Advanced Certifications for Swim Instructors

Master instructors watch the junior instructors closely as they continue to grow in their roles. In time, a junior instructor may be chosen for one of Premier’s advanced certifications:

  • Advanced Stroke Instructors
  • Baby Swim Training
  • Swim Lessons for Children with Special Needs
  • Water Aerobics

These advanced certifications each require an additional 20-30 hours of coursework in the classroom and the pool.

Join Us in Recognizing National CPR-AED Awareness Week

2014-12-21 12.07.56 copyIt’s National CPR-AED Awareness Week, and people across the country are taking the time to stop and recognize the importance of CPR-AED training and certification. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, commonly known as CPR, is a lifesaving technique that can be administered to someone during an emergency. CPR is commonly used on a person who has drowned or experienced a heart attack, causing their heartbeat or breathing to stop. CPR saves lives every day in sudden cardiac arrest situations, and it is important for your whole family to be knowledgeable and prepared to help in case of an emergency.

Why Learn CPR

Sudden cardiac arrest is the #1 cause of death in the United States today. Because only one third of these people will receive CPR by someone before medical help arrives, the survival rates are surprisingly grim with approximately 11% of SCA victims survive the attack. At Premier Aquatic Services, we recognize that the more people who are armed with CPR and AED training could potentially triple the survival rate.

What to Do

CPR and AED certification is important training to have. The team at Premier Aquatic Services offers American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid programs to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. Emergencies happen without warning, and these skills could make a life or death difference in the life of a loved one.

It is essential to get professional training to be prepared for the unthinkable, but here are some steps to keep in mind.

  • Call 9-1-1. Before beginning CPR, be sure that someone is calling 9-1-1. If you are alone, call for help immediately. If you are with others, assign the task to someone. It’s important to note that assigning the task is important so that there isn’t a misunderstanding about whether someone called for help or not.
  • Use an automated external defibrillator (AED), if possible. An AED is a portable device that can check a victim’s heart rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electric shock through the chest to the heart. In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, this shock can stop an irregular rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume. Proper use of this device is taught in our training.
  • Begin CPR. CPR compressions help to keep the victim’s blood flowing to their brain and keep them alive. However, improper procedure can cause more damage than good. Being trained in CPR will ensure that you are able to assist someone if they need your help.
  • Let the Medical Professionals Take Over. Once they have arrived, allow the professionals to do their job and help save the person’s life.
