Opening and Closing Procedures
Lifeguard Opening Procedures:
1. Vacuum the Pool
2. Vacuum the Activity Pool
3. Clean skimmer baskets
4. Skim surface of the pool
5. Scrub scum line from Pool tiles
6. Scrub scum line from Activity Pool tiles
7. Spray off pool deck/pool furniture
8. Move backboard, AED and other necessary equipment out
9. Pick up trash from pool deck and grass
10. Check rescue bag and personal equipment, replace anything missing
Lifeguard Manager Opening Procedures:
1. Unlock Facility
2. Take first chemical test for Pool and Activity Pool
3. Inspect grounds for safety hazards, check railings and check bathrooms
5. Turn on computer/ Setup front desk
6. Check AED battery and pads
7. Verify all lifeguard duties are complete, help when available
Closing Procedures:
1. Empty trash bins and take trash to elementary dumpster
2. Clean skimmer baskets
3. Organize Pool Furniture
4. Clean trash off pool deck
5. Clean outside bathrooms
6. Clean women’s bathroom
7. Clean men’s bathroom
8. Clean lifeguard office
9. Close lifeguard stand umbrellas
10. Move back board and other equipment to pump room
11. Put AED away
12. Clean up front desk
13. Final chemical checks (LM)
14.Lock up facility (LM)
