Opening and Closing Procedures
Opening Procedures:
- Clock in on the When I Work App
- Open the lock box and retrieve facility keys.
- Use the key in the lock box to enter the gate. Make sure the gate closes behind you.
- Unlock the storage closet
- Place a deck chair in the proper location, see photo below. Set up your station with
buoy, first aid kit, umbrella, pool monitor gear box, and tote box provided by the HOA. - Place all of your belongings into the pool monitor gear box.
- Walk the facility checking for hazards or trash and organizing the furniture
- Start the Weekly Procedure Sheet on the clipboard.
- Take a Deck/Water Count upon arrival and record on the Weekly Procedure Sheet in the
correct time slot

During Shift Tasks and Rules:
- Take pool/deck count every hour on the hour
- Make sure the deck is always clean of trash and the furniture is organized
- Enforce all rules CONSISTENTLY – See Rules for specifics
- Notify Management of any issues and any questions
Closing Procedures:
- Straighten the pool furniture and pick up trash on and around the pool deck
- Take a Deck/Water Count upon closing and record on the Weekly Procedure Sheet in the
correct time slot. - Return the clipboard, first aid kit, clock, and expanding file to the gear box. Return all
gear and tote box provided by the HOA to the storage closet. - Lock the storage closet
- Return the facility keys to the lock box
- Clock out on the When I Work App
Pool Rules
- Hours: 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- No lifeguard on duty! Swim at your own risk.
- Use of the pools and spa are restricted to members of the Community Association and
up to (5) guests per home. The number of guests permitted may be further limited on
certain days, or on seasonal high-usage days as determined by the Community
Association Board of Directors. - All incontinent persons (including children under the age of four) must wear plastic
pants when in the water. - Children under the age of sixteen (16) must be accompanied by a responsible adult age
eighteen (18) or older. - For every 3 children there must be 1 adult supervisor present at all times, as defined by
rule #5 - Children may wear water wings, life vests or other types of small flotation devices in the
Community Association’s pools if a parent or guardian has signed the necessary waiver
and release agreement. If a release has not been signed, only United States Coast Guard
approved life vests will be allowed. Rafts, boogie boards, water noodles, or any other items
that would obstruct a clear view of the water, are not permitted. - Soap, bath oils, etc. are prohibited in the pools or spa.
- Diving is not permitted. Running, pushing or boisterous play will not be permitted.
- Glass objects are prohibited in the pool and spa areas.
- Smoking is prohibited in the pool and spa areas and all private Association facilities.
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited at pool and spa areas.
- Portable electronic devices (such as radios. televisions, MP3 players, CD players, etc)
may only be used if headphones are used, and such devices may never be used while in
the pool or spa. - Pets (dogs, cats, etc.) are prohibited in the pool and spa areas.
- Proper swim attire is required in the pools and spa. Proper swim attire is defined as
clothing which has been professionally manufactured for the purpose of wearing while
swimming. - Bicycles, roller-skates, in-line skates and skateboards are not permitted in the pool
and spa areas. - Excessive noise, which creates a nuisance, is prohibited.
- Portable barbecues are not permitted in the pool and spa areas.
- The Management Company and/or the Community Association Board of Directors
reserve the right to deny use of the pools and spa to anyone at any time. - Neither the Management Company nor the Community Association Board of Directors
is responsible for accidents or injuries. 12. - In case of an emergency, call 911.
- All injuries or accidents involving these facilities must be reported to the community
staff located at The Village Conservatory. - Members may bring their guests to all facilities (provided that the number of guests is in
compliance with rule #3) and must accompany them at all times. Use of the facilities is at
the member’s own risk. - Members are responsible for their guest’s compliance with all Community Association
Community Guidelines for personal injuries, for any damage to Community Association
property caused by the members or their guests, and are liable for all repair or
replacement costs.
EAP
Water Rescue
1. One (1) Long Whistle Blow to indicate a Lifeguard is entering the water

- a. Two (2) Long Whistle Blows to indicate a Lifeguard needs assistance (if necessary)
2. Additional Lifeguard provides total zone coverage

- a. If necessary, additional Lifeguard clears the pool
3. Perform Appropriate Entry and Rescue

- a. Select Premier Staff/bystanders to summon and wait for EMS, bring a backboard, bring the AED and First
Aid Kit, etc., if needed

Spinal Rescue

3. Perform Appropriate Entry and Rescue
4. Appoint Premier Staff/bystander to summon EMS
5. Inform other Lifeguards (if available) that a Backboard is needed if the person cannot self-extricate

- a. If no other Premier Lifeguards are available and the person is still breathing, you must maintain in-line
stabilization until EMS arrives. - b. If another Premier Lifeguard is available, secure person on the Backboard properly and remove the person
from the water. - c. If the person is not breathing, use a single rescuer extraction to remove the person from the water, perform
a primary assessment, and provide necessary care.
- a. If no other Premier Lifeguards are available and the person is still breathing, you must maintain in-line

Land Emergency

8. Notify the Manager on Duty
9. Assess equipment used and replace needed items
10. Re-open facility if it is safe to do so
Evacuations
(i.e. Fire, Severe Chemical Spill, etc.)
1. One (1) Long Whistle Blow to indicate an Emergency
2. Clear the pool and locker rooms
3. Inform all patrons that they need to move to the evacuation point

- a. The best evacuation point will be the playground.
4. Bring First Aid Kit and Lifeguard Gear Box with you

Inclement Weather

2. Rain

- a. Always assume the pool is open unless you hear otherwise from your manager or the Premier Office Staff.
- b. If the rain is heavy enough to impair visibility of the bottom of the pool, contact your manager for
authorization to close.
Code Brown/Orange (Fecal/Vomit Contamination)
1. Clear all patrons from the pool
2. Notify Manager on Duty

- a. Manager on Duty will notify the appropriate individuals
3. If possible, remove debris and dispose of properly
Missing Child
1. Get an accurate description of the child and where the parent last saw them
2. Make sure that no one can exit the facility
3. Clear pool of patrons and move them to the area by the Splash Pad

- a. Once patrons are by the Splash Pad, make sure no one leaves
- b. Check the bottom of the pool
4. Check all locker rooms/bathrooms/other rooms that can be accessed by patrons
5. If child cannot be located, call 911
Active Shooter
1. If possible, get away from the facility/shooter.

- a. Alert patrons to the issue without causing panic.
2. If it is not possible to run, hide in a location and barricade the door.

- d. Bring as many patrons as possible

4. Remember that First Officers will not stop to aid any injured parties as their main priority is to end the incident as
soon as possible.
5. If First Officers enter the place you are hiding, do not make any sudden movements and make sure the Officers
know you are not the threat.
