Opening and Closing Procedures
Opening Procedures
- Clock in
- Retrieve keys from the Premier lock box
- Open storage room by Resort Pool. Take buoys to each guard stand. Take one first aid kit and blue clipboard with rules to lagoon shallow tower, second first aid kit goes to resort pool tower. Blackbox with yellow lid typically goes next to the resort shallow tower.
- Take 2 bins of Life Jackets out. Place by shallow end stand in Lagoon Pool.
- Get Radios from Fire Riser room.
- Put backboard out (stored in the Resort Pool Pump Room)
- Manager, resort lifeguard, and lagoon lifeguard should always have keys
- Manager should take pool and deck count upon each hour
Closing Procedures:
- Take all buoys, first aid kits, black box, and folder to storage at Resort Pool.
- Return Life Jacket Bins to storage room at Resort Pool.
- Place the backboard into the Resort Pool pump room
- Add up all the hourly pool and deck count for the day
- Manager should complete daily report
- Place Radios on chargers in Fire Riser room
- Put 1 Key Card in the Premier Lockbox. Place all other key cards in the black storage box.
- Clock out
Pool Rules
- Use of the POOLS, CABANAS AND OTHER POOL AREA FURNITURE is on a first come first-served basis. These areas may not be reserved with the placement of towels and other personal items once you have left the facility. Items left unattended for the purpose of reserving seating will be removed. The association is not responsible for lost or stolen items left unattended.
- Decorations, décor or other party props are not permitted in any of the pool areas unless homeowner has an approved decoration agreement with management and paid a $200.00 refundable deposit. Homeowner must receive approval from management at least three (3) days in advance of their event/party.
- There will be no lifeguard on duty. Use of the POOLS is at your own risk. The Association assumes no responsibility for any accident or injury in connection with such use or for any loss or damage to personal property.
- Members interested in swim lessons must contact the Association’s approved swimming instructor contracted with the Association. For purposes of these rules, the “Association’s approved swimming instructor” includes someone that has entered into a license agreement with the Association and, among other things has provided the insurance and indemnity required by the Association. The term “Association’s approved swimming instructor” is not intended to imply that the Association otherwise endorses the swimming instructor. Members may only use the Association’s approved instructor for lessons, except that immediate family members may provide swimming instruction. No other contracted swim lessons may be conducted within the facilities at any time.
- An adult should accompany and actively monitor children under the age of 14.
- Infants and children that are not toilet trained are not allowed in the POOLS without appropriate swim diapers. Should an accident occur in the pool that requires a pool closure, the parents of that child may be subject to fines up to $300.00 for cleaning and closure fees charged to the association.
- Children under the age of 14 should not be allowed in the spa unless accompanied by an adult.
- The wading pools are for children 5 years of age and younger.
- All children in the wading pool area MUST BE UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES.
- All swimmers must shower before entering any of the POOLS. Showers are only for persons using the facilities and not for individual personal hygiene not related to use of the facility.
- All swimmers must wear a bathing suit. No ragged-edged garments are allowed. Nudity is prohibited.
- Any individual with a contagious malady or open sores may not use the POOLS.
- For shoulder length hair or longer, it is recommended that hair be tied back, braided or a cap worn (hair clogs the drains).
- The use of profanity, obscene language or obscene behavior is prohibited. Guests of the facility that are acting in a fashion that may be offensive to other guests may be asked to leave immediately. Failure to do so may result in the loss of privileges.
- No running or horseplay on facilities deck.
- No horseplay in the POOLS. Hanging on lane lines is strictly prohibited.
- No ball/Frisbee or object throwing in or around the POOLS.
- No gum in the POOLS.
- No eating food or drinking in any of the POOLS.
- All waste materials from food or beverages are to be taken with you or disposed of in the trash containers provided in the POOL areas.
- No skateboards, bicycles, tricycles, skates, razors, rollerblades or other wheeled equipment are allowed inside the fenced areas.
- No bottles or other glass containers/objects inside the fenced area.
- No pets inside the fenced area.
- No unduly loud or disturbing noise inside the fenced area.
- No amplified music permitted inside the fenced area with the exception of Association sponsored events and activities, or in conjunction with a facility rental as approved by the Association.
- No diving from benches, tables, or other facility structures inside the fenced area.
- No rafts, inflatable toys, boogie boards, diving rings, swim fins which include mermaid style fins, scuba equipment or other like toys in the POOLS.
- No smoking inside the fenced area. Smoking of any kind, including, but not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vapor pens, vapor pipes, and hookahs, is prohibited.
- Persons intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted in the POOLS.
- No pool furniture in the POOLS.
- Any damage to equipment or furnishings must be reported promptly. Members responsible for the damage will be required to immediately reimburse the Association for losses related to the damage and may be subject to additional fines or penalties deemed necessary by the Woodbury Community Association. Members are also responsible for damage by their guests.
- All gates must remain closed and locked at all times. DO NOT obstruct gates with chairs or other items to keep gates open.
- Tampering with POOL equipment, gate locks or machinery at the POOL areas is prohibited. Members caught tampering will be subject to fines.
- Jumping the fence to any gated facility is prohibited.
- Portable barbeque grills are prohibited in the POOL areas.
- The Woodbury Community Association may turn off the heat to individual pools during the winter season.
EAP
Water Rescue
- One (1) Long Whistle Blow to indicate a Lifeguard is entering the water
- Two (2) Long Whistle Blows to indicate a Lifeguard needs assistance (if necessary)
- Additional Lifeguard provides total zone coverage
- If necessary, additional Lifeguard clears the pool
- Perform Appropriate Entry and Rescue
- Select Premier Staff/bystanders to summon and wait for EMS, bring a backboard, bring the AED and First Aid Kit, etc., if needed
- Assist person to safety
- Provide required care (First Aid, CPR, etc.)
- Complete Incident Report
- Notify Manager on Duty
- Assess equipment used and replace needed items
Spinal Rescue
- One (1) Long Whistle Blow to indicate a Lifeguard is entering the water
- Once it is determined the person has a spinal injury, two (2) Long Whistle Blows to indicate a Lifeguard needs assistance
- Additional Lifeguard clears the pool
- Perform Appropriate Entry and Rescue
- Appoint Premier Staff/bystander to summon EMS
- Inform other Lifeguards (if available) that a Backboard is needed if the person cannot self-extricate
- If no other Premier Lifeguards are available and the person is still breathing, you must maintain in-line stabilization until EMS arrives.
- If another Premier Lifeguard is available, secure person on the Backboard properly and remove the person from the water.
- If the person is not breathing, use a single rescuer extraction to remove the person from the water, perform a primary assessment, and provide necessary care.
- Select a bystander to bring the First Aid Kit and AED, continue giving care if needed.
- Complete Incident Report
- Notify Manager on Duty
- Assess equipment used and replace needed items
- Re-open facility if it is safe to do so
Land Emergency
(i.e. Cardiac Arrest, Breathing Emergencies, Stroke, Seizures, Diabetic Emergencies, etc.)
- One (1) Long Whistle Blow to indicate an Emergency
- Two (2) Long Whistle Blows to indicate a Lifeguard needs assistance (if necessary)
- Additional Lifeguard provides total zone coverage
- If necessary, additional Lifeguard clears the pool
- Select Premier Staff/bystander to summon and wait for EMS, if necessary
- Select Premier Staff/bystander to bring the First Aid Kit and AED
- Clear the area
- Provide appropriate care (i.e. CPR, Rescue Breathing, etc.) until EMS arrives
- Complete an Incident Report
- Notify the Manager on Duty
- Assess equipment used and replace needed items
- Re-open facility if it is safe to do so
Evacuations
(i.e. Fire, Severe Chemical Spill, etc.)
- One (1) Long Whistle Blow to indicate an Emergency
- Clear the pool and locker rooms
- Inform all patrons that they need to move to the evacuation point
- The best evacuation point will be the gate by the volleyball courts to the grassy area
- Bring First Aid Kit and Lifeguard Gear Box with you
- Take a count of patrons and contact information. Do not let anyone leave until you account for them.
Inclement Weather
- Thunder or Lightning
- At the first sound of thunder or the first sighting of lightning, clear everyone from the water and deck for 30 minutes. The time restarts with each sound of thunder or sighting of lightning.
- Rain
- Always assume the pool is open unless you hear otherwise from your manager or the Premier Office Staff.
- If the rain is heavy enough to impair visibility of the bottom of the pool, contact your manager for authorization to close.
Code Brown/Orange (Fecal/Vomit Contamination)
- Clear all patrons from the pool
- Notify Manager on Duty
- Manager on Duty will notify the appropriate individuals
- If possible, remove debris and dispose of properly
Missing Child
- Get an accurate description of the child and where the parent last saw them
- Make sure that no one can exit the facility
- Clear pool of patrons and move them to the area by the Splash Pad
- Once patrons are by the Splash Pad, make sure no one leaves
- Check the bottom of the pool
- Check all locker rooms/bathrooms/other rooms that can be accessed by patrons
- If child cannot be located, call 911
Active Shooter
- If possible, get away from the facility/shooter.
- Alert patrons to the issue without causing panic.
- If it is not possible to run, hide in a location and barricade the door.
- Turn off lights
- Make sure phones are on silent
- Stay out of view
- Bring as many patrons as possible
- Alert authorities
- As a last resort, fight
- Remember that First Officers will not stop to aid any injured parties as their main priority is to end the incident as soon as possible.
- If First Officers enter the place you are hiding, do not make any sudden movements and make sure the Officers know you are not the threat.
