Wipeout (Open Body Slide) 

  1. Maximum operational load: 1 person, 300 lbs (136kg) 
  1. Persons under 42” tall (1.07 m) are not permitted on this ride. 
  1. Persons under 48” (and over 42”) must ride wearing a personal floatation device 
  1. Loose items (glasses, cameras, wallets, hats, keys, etc) should be left with a non-rider or secured. 
  1. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. Eyeglasses must be securely affixed to riders with head straps. 
  1. Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets or metal ornamentation are not permitted. 
  1. One rider to enter the flume at a time. Single riders only, please. Never form chains! 
  1. Riders must wait for the attendants’ start signal before starting the ride. 
  1. Slide must be ridden feet first, lying on your back with legs firmly crossed at the ankles, and arms folded across the chest. Riding this slide improperly may cause injury. 
  1. Do not uncross your legs or attempt to sit up until you enter the splash pool. 
  1. Do not run, dive, stand, kneel, rotate, or stop in the slide. 
  1. At the end of the slide, obey all instructions by the Lifeguard and exit quickly. 
  1. Do not block the end of the slide. 
  1. Leave the splash pool quickly and orderly. 
  1. No swimming or floatation devices allowed in the splash pool. 

CloseOut (Enclosed Body Slide) 

  1. Maximum operational load: 1 person, 300 lbs (136kg)

  1. Persons under 48” (and over 42”) must ride wearing a personal floatation device. 
  1. Sandals, aqua socks, excessive jewelry must be removed before riding. 
  1. Loose items (glasses, cameras, wallets, hats, keys, etc) should be left with a non-rider or secured. 
  1. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. Eyeglasses must be securely affixed to riders with head straps. 
  1. Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets or metal ornamentation are not permitted. 
  1. One inner tube to enter the flume at a time. Sing 
  1. One rider to enter the flume at a time. Single riders only, please. Never form chains! 
  1. Riders must wait for the attendants’ start signal before starting the ride. 
  1. Slide must be ridden feet first, lying on your back with legs firmly crossed at the ankles, and arms folded across the chest. Riding this slide improperly may cause injury. 
  1. Do not uncross your legs or attempt to sit up until you enter the splash pool. 
  1. Do not run, dive, stand, kneel, rotate, or stop in the slide.

Grommet Falls (Children’s Slides): 

  1. Maximum Operational Load: 1 Person, 200lbs 
  1. Riders must demonstrate ability to walk unassisted or be able to control body position throughout the ride. 
  1. Secure all items or leave them in a locker or with a non-rider. 
  1. Exposed Metal is not permitted. Proper swimwear required. 
  1. Only one rider to enter the flume at a time. Never form chains. 
  1. Wait for an attendant’s start signal before beginning the ride. 
  1. Slide on your back or in a seated, feet first position. 
  1. Do not change position in the slide 
  1. Do not block the end of the slide and exit quickly. 

 Lazy RIver: 

  1. Food and drinks are not allowed within the river. 
  1. All patrons must always be in a tube. One rider per single tube, two riders per double tube. 
  1. Enter on the west stairs; exit on the north-end stairs. 
  1. Riders under 48 inches must wear a life jacket 
  1. Riders under 42 inches tall must be accompanied by their adult. 
  1. Lap riding is permitted for small children. 
  1. Riders must stay inside of their tube at all times when in the river. 
  1. Diving, jumping and horseplay are not permitted. 
  1. No hanging on bridges or walls, guests must continue with the current. 
  1. Prolonged underwater swimming or breath holding is not permitted. 
  1. Only U.S. Coast guard approved life jackets are permitted. 
  1. Masks and snorkels are not permitted. 
  1. Diaper aged individuals must wear a swim diaper. 
  1. Handheld infants are not permitted. 
  1. Guests having currently active diarrhea or who have had active diarrhea within the last 14 days shall not be allowed to use the Lazy River. 
  1. Riders may only enter and exit the Lazy River at the main entrance/exit, or at any stairs in the case of emergency. 

Island Pool: 

  1. Drinks are permitted in the island pool. 
  1. No food permitted in the island pool. 
  1. Moving furniture in walkways is prohibited. 
  1. Diving is prohibited, feet first entry only. 
  1. Children under 48 inches must be in a life jacket. 
  1. Only U.S. Coast guard approved life jackets are permitted. 
  1. Prolonged underwater swimming or breath holding is not permitted. 
  1. No roughhousing or horseplay. 
  1. Diaper aged individuals must wear a swim diaper. 
  1. Glass is not permitted by the pool or any other aquatic feature. 
  1. Children under the age of 5 must have an adult on the island. 
  1. Children 3 and under must have an adult within arm’s reach. 

 

 

EAP

EAP protocols will vary based on the emergency. Our primary goal is the safety of our
patrons and facility personnel while being mindful of SGE training standards.

Slides (Wipeout, Closeout, Double Up, Grom-Slides)

Spinal Emergencies:

1. One (1) long whistle blast to indicate a lifeguard is entering the water

    • a. Once it is determined the person has a spinal injury, two (2) long whistle blasts to indicate a lifeguard needs assistance

2. Clear catch pool and stop slides from being dispatched

    • a. When slides are clear of patrons, proceed to activate the emergency stop for all entering slides.

3. Perform Ease-In Entry and rescue

4. Inform other Lifeguards that a backboard is needed if the person cannot self-extricate

    • a. Appoint someone to summon and wait for EMS.
    • b. Appoint a lifeguard to notify Manager-On-Duty to summon On-Site EMS to bring the crash
      bag and On-Site Security, maintain in-line stabilization until EMS takes over.
    • c. If the person is not breathing use a single rescuer extrication to remove the person from
      the water, perform a primary assessment and provide necessary care.
    • d. Select Lifeguard to retrieve a back board, assist EMTs with the crash bag and First Aid Kit,
      etc.

5. Assist EMT’s with moving Guest-In-Distress to ambulance entrance area (west gate by EMT room)

6. Complete Incident Report

    • a. Work with On-Site Security and On-Site EMT’s who also have reports that need to be filled
      out as well.

7. Notify Regional Manager

8. Assess Equipment used and replace needed items

9. Re-open facility if it is safe to do so

Water Rescues:

1. One (1) long whistle blast to indicate a lifeguard is entering the water

    • a. Two (2) Long Whistle Blows to indicate a Lifeguard needs assistance (if necessary)

2. Clear Catch Pool and stop slides from dispatching

    • a. If necessary, activate E-Stop once all guests are no longer within slide flumes.

3. Perform Appropriate Entry and Rescue

    • a. Select Bystander to Summon and wait for EMS.
    • b. Appoint a lifeguard to notify Manager-On-Duty to summon On-Site EMS to bring the crash
      bag and On-Site Security.
    • c. Select Lifeguard to retrieve a back board, assist EMTs with the crash bag and First Aid Kit,
      etc.

4. Assist person to safety, provide required care (First Aid, CPR, etc.)

5. if necessary, assist EMT’s with moving the Guest-In-Distress to ambulance entrance area (west
gate by EMT room)

6. Complete Incident Report

    • a. Work with On-Site Security and On-Site EMT’s who also have reports that need to be filled
      out as well.

7. Notify Regional Manager

8. Assess equipment used and replace needed items

Lazy River

Spinal Emergencies:

1. One (1) long whistle blast to indicate a lifeguard is entering the water

    • a. Once it is determined the person has a spinal injury, two (2) long whistle blasts to indicate a lifeguard needs assistance

2. Clear the river

    • a. Select Lifeguard to activate E-Stop to stop the flow of the river.

3. Perform Ease-In Entry and Rescue

    • a. Be sure to point the Guest-In-Distress’s feet with the flow of the river to ensure their body
      is horizontal.

4. Appoint a lifeguard to bring the back board if person cannot self-extricate

    • a. Appoint someone to summon and wait for EMS.
    • b. Appoint a lifeguard to notify Manager-On-Duty to summon On-Site EMS to bring the crash
      bag and On-Site Security, maintain in-line stabilization until EMS takes over.
    • c. If the person is not breathing use a single rescuer extrication to remove the person from
      the water from the best exit point, perform a primary assessment and provide necessary
      care.
    • d. Select Lifeguard to retrieve a back board, assist EMTs with the crash bag and First Aid Kit,
      etc.

Resort-Wide Emergencies

Land Emergencies:

(i.e. Cardiac Arrest, Breathing Emergencies, Stroke, Seizures, Diabetic Emergencies, etc.)

1. One (1) long whistle blast to indicate a lifeguard is entering the water

    • a. Two (2) Long Whistle Blows to indicate a Lifeguard needs assistance (if necessary)

2. Clear body of water that is being abandoned for the time-being

3. Select Bystander to Summon and wait for EMS.

4. Appoint a lifeguard to notify Manager-On-Duty to summon On-Site EMS to bring the crash bag and
On-Site Security.

5. Appoint Security to clear the area

6. Provide Appropriate Care (i.e. CPR, Rescue Breathing, etc.) until EMS arrives and takes over

7. Complete Incident Report

    • a. Work with On-Site Security and On-Site EMT’s who also have reports that need to be filled
      out as well.

8. Notify Regional Manager

9. Assess equipment used and replace needed items

10. Reopen any closed facility when it is safe to do so

Evacuations

(i.e. Fire, Severe Chemical Spill, etc.)

1. One (1) Long Whistle Blow to indicate an Emergency

2. Notify Manager-On-Duty to inform security team

3. Work with security in clearing out all water park facilities (bathrooms, island bar, break room)

4. Inform all patrons that they need to move to the evacuation point

    • a. Depending on the affected area, this will:
      • i. West Gate (in between break room and EMT room)
        • ii. The park’s main entrance (east-gate)

5. Bring first aid kit and any necessary gear (radios, AED, etc.)

6. Take a count of patrons and contact information. Do not let anyone leave until you account for
them

Inclement Weather

1. Thunder or Lightening

    • a. If lightning strikes within 5 miles of the Surf Club, clear everyone from the water and deck
      for 30 minutes. The time restarts with each strike within 5 miles. Advise guests to take
      cover.
    • b. Notify Manager-On-Duty, to notify security.
    • c. Guards take cover in break room, 2 of 3 guards (and 1 manager) stay on deck to advise
      guests to stay out of the water.

2. Rain

    • a. Always assume the pool is open unless you hear otherwise from your manager or the Premier Office Staff.
    • b. If the rain is heavy enough to impair visibility of the bottom of the pool, contact your
      manager for authorization to close.

3. Sandstorms and High Wind

    • a. Notify Manager On Duty of high-winds
      • i. Managers will coordinate with security on putting down umbrellas
    • b. If a sandstorm is immanent, notify manager on duty
      • i. Management will work with the surf club to identify best approach

Code Brown/Orange (Fecal/Vomit Contamination)

1. Clear all patrons from body of water

2. Notify Manager-On-Duty

    • a. Management will notify maintenance team.

3. If possible, remove any debris and dispose of properly in a biohazard bag

4. Await advisement from the maintenance team

5. Reopen when it is safe to do so

Missing Child

1. Get an accurate description of the child and where the parent/guardian last saw them

2. Notify Manager-On-Duty & Security to make sure no one can exit the facility (including restaurant)

3. Clear bodies of water of patrons and move them to a specific area

    • a. Once patrons are in a specific area, make sure no one leaves.
    • b. When clear, activate E-stops on slides and river.
    • c. Check bottoms of all bodies of water (River, Both Catch Pools, Resort Pool)

4. Work with security to check all locker rooms/bathrooms/other buildings

5. If child cannot be located, call 911

Active Shooter

1. If possible, get away from the facility/shooter

    • a. Alert patrons, manager, security team without causing panic

2. If it is not possible to run, hide in the closest location that has a door and barricade the door

    • a. Turn off lights.
    • b. Make sure phones are on silent.
    • c. Stay out of view.
    • d. Bring as many patrons as possible.
    • e. Alert Authorities.

3. As last resort, fight

4. Remember that First Officers will not stop to aid any injured parties as their main priority is to end
the incident as soon as possible.

5. If First Officers enter the place you are hiding, do not make any sudden movements and make sure
the Officers know you are not a threat
